A student leader who was detained for alleged illegal possession of firearms has been released, according to a post on Facebook by the Kabataan and Anakbayan Party-list groups on Tuesday.
Maria Jesusa “Sasah” Sta. Rosa of Jovenes Anakbayan-Bicol was arrested last May 2, 2021, during a joint police and military raid in her home in Naga City where several types of ammunition were seized.
Lawyers Ricky Tomotorgo and John Bongat, a former mayor, helped Sta. Rosa secure a dismissal of the charges against her after they discovered that the search warrant that was used had a different address.
The Kabataan Party-List and Anakbayan Naga City called out for justice for Sta. Rosa following her 5-month detention, which they blamed on the government’s “red tagging” or those who are accused of having links with the communist rebels.
